Step into another world at Pakarang Cave, the hidden jewel of Cheow Lan Lake. Known as the “Underwater World in a Cave,” its glittering stalactites and stalagmites resemble vibrant coral reefs beneath the sea.

Amidst the breathtaking scenery of Cheow Lan Lake, also known as Ratchaprapha Dam in Surat Thani Province, lies a hidden gem that no traveler should miss — Pakarang Cave. This natural wonder features stalactites and stalagmites shaped like coral reefs, earning it the nickname “the underwater world inside a cave.”

Pakarang Cave is one of the most popular stops for visitors to Ratchaprapha Dam. Inside, the formations created over thousands of years by rainwater filtering through limestone create an enchanting landscape. When light shines upon them, the crystals shimmer as if reflecting the depths of the ocean, leaving a lasting impression on every visitor.

The cave is located in the northern part of the reservoir, within the Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary, specifically in the “500 Rai Sea” area. From Cheow Lan Lake Pier, the journey takes about one hour by boat to reach the Huai Tham Chan Forest Protection Unit. Along the way, travelers are treated to views of towering limestone cliffs and the lake’s signature emerald-green waters.
