CHEOW LAN LAKE · KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK
Coral Cave (Pakarang Cave)
Journey across the lake, walk through rainforest, cross an inner lake by bamboo raft and explore one of Cheow Lan Lake’s most distinctive limestone caves.
CORAL CAVE AT A GLANCE
More Than a Cave Visit
Coral Cave is one of the few places on Cheow Lan Lake where the journey changes several times before you reach the destination. Instead of travelling directly from boat to cave, visitors move through open lake scenery, rainforest, a hidden inner lake and finally into the limestone chambers of Pakarang Cave.
That combination is what makes Coral Cave one of the most complete nature experiences in Khao Sok National Park.

THE JOURNEY IS PART OF THE EXPERIENCE
From Open Lake to Hidden Cave
The route begins on Cheow Lan Lake before leaving the boat behind and continuing into the rainforest on foot. After reaching the inner lake, visitors board a bamboo raft for the final crossing to Pakarang Cave. Each stage feels different from the last, making the journey itself just as memorable as the cave.
INSIDE THE CAVE
Limestone Formed Beneath an Ancient Sea
Inside the cave, the landscape changes completely. The bright lake and rainforest give way to cool limestone chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites and unusual mineral formations. The cave takes its name from formations that resemble coral, giving rise to the Thai name Pakarang and the English name Coral Cave. The route is guided throughout, allowing visitors to explore the accessible sections while protecting the natural environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT
What the Walk Is Really Like
Coral Cave is suitable for travellers who enjoy being active outdoors. The experience includes boat travel, walking on natural forest trails, a bamboo raft crossing and exploring uneven cave terrain.
It does not require climbing equipment or technical caving experience, but comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended, especially after rain when sections of the trail may become muddy or slippery.

Coral Cave

WHERE IT IS
Deep in the Khlong Long Area
Coral Cave is located in the Khlong Long area of Cheow Lan Lake, one of the western sections of the reservoir reached by longtail boat from Ratchaprapha Pier. Because the cave sits beyond the main waterways, the journey naturally combines lake travel with rainforest walking and the bamboo raft crossing across Talay Nai, the inner lake.
