Rachada Srepaotong Founder of Khao Sok Travel Travel Writer · Editor · Photographer · Web Developer · SEO Specialist For more than 35 years, my career has been dedicated to one purpose — helping people discover places through stories. Long before founding Khao Sok Travel, I worked as a journalist, editor, photographer, magazine publisher, website developer, and digital content creator. Every stage of my career has been driven by a passion for sharing destinations, cultures, and travel experiences through trusted information and compelling storytelling. Today, I combine that lifelong experience to create one of Thailand's most comprehensive travel resources for Khao Sok National Park, Cheow Lan Lake, and Southern Thailand. A Journey Through Journalism & Publishing My career began after the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where I worked as a sports illustrator and comic writer, producing football publications inspired by the tournament. During the 1994 FIFA World Cup, I returned to sports publishing, creating football goal illustrations and editorial content for a sports publication distributed with Manager Daily Newspaper. I later continued my journalism career with Sport News Newspaper and Matichon Newspaper, where I developed my skills in reporting, feature writing, editing, and visual storytelling. Those early years laid the foundation for everything I do today. Editorial Leadership After my newspaper career, I moved into magazine publishing and editorial management. Throughout my publishing career, I served in several editorial leadership roles, including: Editor — Thong Lok Thammachat Magazine Head of Editorial — Volvo Magazine, produced for Sweden Motor Co., Ltd. Art Director — Thailand Business Pages Editor — BizSky Magazine, the in-flight magazine of Business Air Editor & Travel Writer — Uzbekistan Travel Magazine My work included editorial planning, feature writing, destination research, magazine production, photography, design direction, and managing editorial teams. These experiences taught me that every great publication begins with trust, accuracy, and meaningful storytelling. Entering the Digital World In 1998, I relocated to Phuket and joined KSC Commercial Internet, one of Thailand's early Internet service providers. Working during the pioneering years of the Thai Internet introduced me to website development, digital publishing, online communication, and web technology long before modern content management systems existed. After leaving KSC, I continued working with tourism companies across Southern Thailand, developing travel websites, brochures, print publications, and digital marketing materials. This transition from traditional publishing to digital media became a defining moment in my career. Creating Khao Sok Travel The founding of Khao Sok Travel brought together everything I had learned throughout my career. Today I personally oversee: Destination research Travel writing Website development Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Travel photography Private itinerary design Digital publishing Brand strategy Every article, travel guide, itinerary, and destination page published on this website is based on first-hand experience, extensive field research, and years of collaboration with local guides, boat captains, park officials, resorts, and communities throughout Southern Thailand. Selected Publications Throughout my career I have contributed to or led editorial projects including: Sport News Newspaper Matichon Newspaper Thong Lok Thammachat Magazine Volvo Magazine Thailand Business Pages BizSky Magazine Uzbekistan Travel Magazine Areas of Expertise Khao Sok National Park Cheow Lan Lake Southern Thailand Private Luxury Travel Wildlife Experiences Magazine Publishing Travel Journalism Destination Photography Website Development Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Tourism Marketing Travel Content Strategy My Philosophy I believe that travel is more than visiting destinations. It is about understanding nature, local communities, culture, and the stories that make every journey meaningful. A travel website should do more than sell tours. It should educate, inspire, and help travellers make confident decisions before they arrive. That philosophy continues to guide every page, article, and travel experience we create at Khao Sok Travel. Recognition Khao Sok Travel has welcomed thousands of travellers from around the world and has been recognised among the Top 10% of attractions worldwide through the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards. Rajjaprabha Golf Course is near the Khao Sok National Park. Built on hillside slopes, the southern Thailand golf course is surrounded by dense jungle and virgin forests. Great thought has been put into the course layout and routing. The pars 3’s are quite demanding, given their length. The shortest is the 165-yard 6th , a hill-top tee with views over the entire valley and dam, jungle, a pond in front and bunkers behind the green. A dramatic approach through an uphill alley of native trees, the extraordinarily steep 215-yard 16th requires a demanding, well-positioned tee shot to reach the green in one and make par. The 365-yard 1st hole plays down wind and provides fantastic views out over the rest of the course. The 377-yard 12th is unique with play from an elevated tee to a green with hidden bunker long. The 441-yard 4th is the longest par 4 on the course and requires a demanding, well positioned tee shot. The par 5’s are all quite long and challenging, in particular, the 542-yard 7th is the longest hole on the course and requires 3 perfect shots to make par. The tee shot requires a 180 yard carry to clear the river with bunkers hovering in the right. The next 2 shots play long and up-hill around a dogleg left, all the while trying to avoid the greenside pond. Course descriptions are provided for booking reference only. Additionally, there is a story that inside the cave, there are diamonds hidden within the stalactites and stalagmites, and those who find these diamonds will be blessed with good fortune and prosperity. However, despite no real diamonds being found in the cave, the beauty of the sparkling formations is like hidden gems within the cave. What to Bring: Visitors planning to explore Diamond Cave should bring a bright flashlight, as the light will enhance the visibility of the sparkling stalactites and stalagmites. Non-slip shoes are essential for safety while exploring the cave. Comfortable clothing that can protect against scratches from the cave's rocky surfaces is also necessary. Additionally, bringing water and a small first aid kit is recommended for comfort and safety during the exploration of this deep and narrow cave. Getting There: The journey to Diamond Cave begins at the Cheow Lan Lake pier, where you'll take a boat ride of about 40 minutes. • Tapir of Khao Sok | Khao Sok Travel

INSECTS & ANIMALS Tapir of Khao Sok This image was captured by a wildlife camera trap set up by patrol officers at Khao Sok National Park. The camera captured a tapir near a water source and food area for wildlife in the region. What animal has a face like a pig, feet like a rhino, a nose like an elephant’s trunk, and a short tail like a bear? An animal with such a unique appearance can only be the ‘tapir.’ The tapir, or Malayan tapir, scientifically known as Tapirus indicus, is a large herbivorous mammal. It typically measures about 2 meters in length, stands 1 meter tall at the shoulder, and weighs between 150-300 kilograms. Its short coat ranges in color from brown to nearly black, except for the Malayan tapir, which has a distinctive white band around its midsection, and the mountain tapir, which has a longer coat. All tapir species have oval-shaped ears with rounded tips and a white edge, a drooping, plump rear, and a short, thick tail. The front legs have four toes, and the back legs have three, allowing them to walk on mud or soft ground. Baby tapirs have striped or spotted fur for camouflage. Females have a single pair of teats. Tapirs are solitary or pair-living animals that forage in dense, moist forests, often near water sources. They use their long, trunk-like noses to help smell and grasp leaves from bushes for food, and they can eat certain toxic plants. Tapirs enjoy wallowing in water or mud, are nocturnal, and have poor eyesight, relying on their trunk to smell their way around. Newborn tapirs are born with stripes resembling watermelon patterns, much like wild boar piglets. The height inside the cave also changes frequently, with some sections having high ceilings of up to 20 meters, while others are lower, requiring visitors to crouch or wade through waist-deep water. The width of the cave ranges from wide open areas to narrow passages where only one person can pass at a time. The cave's terrain is uneven, with rocky surfaces and water channels, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience for adventurers. Interior Features: The interior of Nam Talu Cave is characterized by its unique combination of water and rock formations. The cave is essentially a natural tunnel carved out by the constant flow of water over thousands of years. As you enter the cave, you’ll find yourself walking through shallow streams, but as you go deeper, the water levels rise, and you may need to swim or wade through sections of the cave. The walls of the cave are adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, formed from mineral deposits carried by the water over centuries. These formations vary in size and shape, creating a mesmerizing natural landscape within the cave.
