  • Chao Eco Farm Stay by Chef Nu | Khao Sok Travel

Stay on a working eco farm guided by King Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy. Enjoy pesticide-free produce, wood-fired pizza by Chef Nu, and hands-on learning for families and schools. Chao Eco Farm Stay by Chef Nu Chao Eco Farm Stay by Chef Nu | Wood-Fired Pizza & Learning Farm in Thailand Stay on a working eco farm guided by King Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy. Enjoy pesticide-free produce, wood-fired pizza by Chef Nu, and hands-on learning for families and schools. Chao Eco Farm Stay by Chef Nu Live the farm. Taste the fire. Learn together. Welcome Chao Eco Farm Stay by Chef Nu invites travelers to slow down and experience Thailand’s traditional village life, together with a hybrid-style café set within a small, self-sustaining agro-ecosystem. Around the café you’ll find pesticide-free vegetable beds, fish ponds, and a garden-supplied pantry so ingredients are used wisely in every season. Outdoors, thatched pavilions provide cozy seating close to nature, where guests breathe clean air and feel the warmth of a genuine community. Inside, the café blends modern design with Roman accents. The menu follows a farm-to-table approach, featuring rustic Thai country dishes and selected Western plates made with produce from our own garden. The highlight is Chef Nu’s wood-fired pizza—crisp, smoky, and topped with garden-fresh ingredients—delivering the same flavor and quality as at all four Chao branches, so guests enjoy both the spirit of Thai countryside living and a familiar touch of Europe in one place. Our Philosophy: Growing by the King’s Footsteps The farm follows the late King Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy principles. We cultivate diverse crops, recycle water, turn organic waste into compost, and integrate fish ponds with vegetable gardens so every element supports another. From a small plot of soil we create abundant life, good food, and a shared place for learning. Farm-to-Table by Chef Nu Chef Nu cooks with the produce the farm yields each day.. Guests enjoy seasonal salads, Thai country dishes, and oven-fresh breads and pies made from our own herbs and vegetables. The highlight is our wood-fired pizza, topped with just-picked produce and baked to a crisp, smoky perfection that rivals any branch of Chao. Rooms & Atmosphere Our farm-stay rooms are simple, clean, and surrounded by gardens, ponds, and fruit trees. Wake to birdsong and a soft morning breeze. Spend your afternoons on a shaded terrace with tea or an iced coffee. Evenings glow with the scent of wood smoke from the pizza oven and the sound of crickets across the fields. Experiences & Activities Guests join daily farm life in a hands-on and meaningful way. You can harvest vegetables with our team and learn why mixed farming keeps the soil alive. You can help feed fish in the ponds and understand closed-loop water use. You can shape and bake your own wood-fired pizza under Chef Nu’s guidance. You can try Thai rice planting in season and walk the village lanes to meet our neighbors. Families can enjoy gentle cycling, pond dipping for aquatic life, or a sunset picnic by the fields. Community Learning Center The farm is also a living classroom. We host school groups and youth programs to inspire practical skills and a love of rural life. Children learn how to plant kitchen-garden vegetables and discover where food truly comes from. They try rice planting and understand the journey from seed to bowl. They make pizza from scratch and practice small-business basics such as planning, costs, and teamwork. Every visit ends not only with a great meal but with new confidence and curiosity. Sample One-Day Plan Arrive in the late morning and enjoy a welcome drink made with herbs from our garden. Walk the farm with our guide and learn how the ponds nourish the beds and the compost feeds the soil. Harvest seasonal vegetables and collect eggs if available. Join a wood-fired pizza workshop with Chef Nu and savor your creation at a long farm table. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pond or cycling to the village. Close the day with a simple countryside dinner and a stargazing moment before bedtime. Sustainability in Practice We minimize plastic and encourage refillable bottles. We compost kitchen waste and return nutrients to the garden. We irrigate with stored rainwater and pond water. We source what we cannot grow from nearby smallholders. We respect quiet hours so nature and neighbors rest well. Families & Schools Programs are tailored to ages and goals. For young learners we focus on exploration and fun. For teens we add project-based learning such as menu costing, branding basics, and small-business management using the farm café as a real example. Teachers receive worksheets and safety guidelines in advance. Reservations & Private Events The farm has limited rooms and workshop seats to keep every visit personal. Advance booking is recommended for overnight stays, pizza workshops, and school visits. Private farm dinners, birthday picnics, and team learning days can be curated by Chef Nu. • Sip Et Chan Waterfall

WATERFALL Sip Et Chan Waterfall Sip Et Chan Waterfall impresses with its eleven cascading tiers and dramatic scenery. A challenging hike leads to this majestic waterfall, rewarding adventurers with breathtaking views and the powerful sound of crashing water. Description: Sip Et Chan Waterfall, meaning "Eleven Levels," is one of the tallest and most impressive waterfalls in Khao Sok National Park. This waterfall is famous for its eleven cascading tiers, each creating a unique pool or plunge. The journey to Sip Et Chan is an adventure in itself, as the trail winds through dense jungle, crossing streams and offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Location: GPS Coordinates: 8.9203, 98.5478. Sip Et Chan Waterfall is located approximately 9 kilometers from the park headquarters, requiring a more challenging hike. Size and Flow: Sip Et Chan Waterfall is about 80 meters high, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in the park. The waterfall’s flow is strong, especially during the rainy season, creating powerful cascades and deep, clear pools at the base of each tier. The eleven levels of the waterfall are spread out over a considerable distance, with the final tier being the most dramatic. Surrounding Flora and Fauna: The trail to Sip Et Chan Waterfall is rich in biodiversity, with towering trees, thick underbrush, and a variety of tropical plants. The area is home to numerous species of birds, reptiles, and mammals, including monkeys and civets. The lush vegetation and the sound of cascading water create a magical atmosphere as you approach the waterfall. Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Sip Et Chan Waterfall is during the rainy season, from May to November, when the waterfall is at its fullest and most powerful. The dry season offers easier access but with a less dramatic flow. Things to Bring: Given the challenging nature of the hike, visitors should be well-prepared with sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water, snacks, and a first aid kit. A swimsuit is recommended for those who want to swim in the pools, and a camera is a must to capture the breathtaking scenery. The stem is attached centrally to the cap and is smooth, with hairs covering the entire stem. Habitat This mushroom grows on decaying wood, either in groups or individually. When light from a flashlight hits these formations, they sparkle, creating a mysterious and beautiful atmosphere within the cave. Additionally, Coral Cave features natural underground water flows, adding the soothing sound of running water to the tranquil and cool environment. The cave is famous for its underground river that runs through it, allowing visitors to wade, swim, or even raft through the cave. The journey through Nam Talu Cave is not just about exploring the cave’s stunning stalactites and stalagmites but also navigating through the water, which adds an element of thrill to the experience. The cave's name, "Nam Talu," literally means "Water Piercing," signifying the way the water flows through the cave, creating a natural tunnel that visitors can traverse. Location: GPS Coordinates: 8.9223, 98.5412 (Located within Khao Sok National Park, near Cheow Lan Lake) Size and Depth: Nam Talu Cave stretches over a length of approximately 700 meters, making it one of the longer caves in the park. The cave's depth varies as it follows the course of the underground river. The height inside the cave also changes frequently, with some sections having high ceilings of up to 20 meters, while others are lower, requiring visitors to crouch or wade through waist-deep water. The width of the cave ranges from wide open areas to narrow passages where only one person can pass at a time. The cave's terrain is uneven, with rocky surfaces and water channels, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience for adventurers. Interior Features: The interior of Nam Talu Cave is characterized by its unique combination of water and rock formations. The cave is essentially a natural tunnel carved out by the constant flow of water over thousands of years. As you enter the cave, you’ll find yourself walking through shallow streams, but as you go deeper, the water levels rise, and you may need to swim or wade through sections of the cave. The walls of the cave are adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, formed from mineral deposits carried by the water over centuries. These formations vary in size and shape, creating a mesmerizing natural landscape within the cave. In addition to the rock formations, Nam Talu Cave is home to a variety of small wildlife, including bats and freshwater fish, which add to the cave’s lively atmosphere. One of the most thrilling aspects of the cave is the sound of rushing water echoing through the chambers, creating a sense of adventure and excitement as you move forward. The cave also features several narrow passages and hidden chambers, where the water flows more swiftly, challenging visitors to carefully navigate through the rocky terrain. Despite its challenges, the beauty of Nam Talu Cave lies in its raw and untouched nature, offering an unparalleled adventure for those seeking to explore one of Thailand's most unique natural wonders. History and Legends: Nam Talu Cave has been a significant site for the local communities for centuries. Traditionally, it was used as a route for villagers traveling between different parts of the region. Over time, it became known as a place of adventure and mystery, with stories of ancient treasures hidden deep within the cave. Although no such treasures have been found, the cave remains a symbol of nature's power and beauty. The name "Nam Talu" reflects the cave's unique feature of being constantly pierced by water, a phenomenon that has shaped the cave’s landscape over millennia. What to Bring: Exploring Nam Talu Cave requires special preparation due to the water-filled passages. Visitors should bring waterproof gear, including a waterproof flashlight, as much of the cave exploration will be in wet conditions. Non-slip water shoes are essential to ensure safe footing on the rocky and often slippery surfaces. Wearing lightweight, quick-dry clothing is recommended, as you will be getting wet during the exploration. A waterproof bag to protect personal items and a small first aid kit are also advisable. Because of the physical demands of the journey, it’s important to be in good physical condition before attempting to explore the cave. Getting There: The journey to Nam Talu Cave begins at the Cheow Lan Lake pier. From there, you will take a boat ride of approximately 30-40 minutes across the lake. After disembarking, you’ll need to hike through the forest for about 1.5 kilometers to reach the cave entrance. The trail is moderately challenging, with some steep and slippery sections, so proper footwear is necessary. Once you reach the cave, the real adventure begins as you prepare to enter the water and navigate through the cave’s winding passages. • Forests and Plants of Khao Sok National Park | Explore Thailand's Rich Biodiversity

FORESTS AND PLANT SPECIES Ecological Importance and Conservation Khao Sok National Park is crucial for the conservation of rare plant species and wildlife, as well as maintaining the biodiversity of Thailand. Conservation of forests and vegetation within the park is vital for preserving ecological balance and preventing the extinction of important plant species, which are significant to both local and global ecosystems. 1. Biodiversity Hotspot Khao Sok National Park is a significant biodiversity hotspot in Thailand, harboring an immense variety of plant and animal species, many of which are endemic or rare. The park’s diverse ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforests to montane forests, provide critical habitats for species like the Malayan tapir, Asian elephant, and the rare Rafflesia flower. 2. Water Cycle Regulation The park plays a vital role in the region's hydrological cycle. The dense forest cover helps regulate the flow of rivers and streams, preventing floods during the rainy season and maintaining water availability during dry periods. The park's forests act as natural water reservoirs, essential for local communities and wildlife. 3. Climate Regulation Khao Sok's vast forests contribute significantly to carbon sequestration, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change. The large trees, such as Dipterocarp species, absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, storing carbon in their biomass and releasing oxygen, thus maintaining air quality and contributing to global climate stability. 4. Soil Conservation The dense vegetation cover in Khao Sok helps prevent soil erosion, particularly in the steep mountainous areas. The root systems of trees and plants hold the soil in place, reducing the risk of landslides and maintaining soil fertility. This soil conservation is vital for sustaining the park’s lush vegetation and the livelihoods of communities that rely on agriculture in surrounding areas. 5. Habitat for Endangered Species Khao Sok is a refuge for several endangered species, including the Malayan sun bear, clouded leopard, and various species of hornbills. The park's protected status helps ensure that these species have a safe environment to thrive, away from threats such as poaching and habitat destruction. 6. Cultural and Economic Value The park is not only important for its ecological functions but also for its cultural and economic value. It supports eco-tourism, which provides income for local communities and funds for conservation efforts. The traditional knowledge of medicinal plants, still practiced by local communities, adds cultural significance to the park's biodiversity. 7. Conservation Efforts Conservation in Khao Sok focuses on protecting its unique ecosystems through various initiatives, including anti-poaching patrols, habitat restoration, and environmental education. The park authorities collaborate with local communities and NGOs to promote sustainable practices that benefit both people and nature. Community Involvement: Local communities are actively involved in conservation efforts, including reforestation projects and the sustainable use of natural resources. This community participation is essential for the long-term success of conservation strategies. Environmental Education: Programs aimed at educating both locals and tourists about the importance of biodiversity and conservation are integral to the park’s strategy. These initiatives help foster a sense of stewardship and encourage sustainable tourism practices. 8. Challenges and Future Directions Despite its protected status, Khao Sok faces ongoing challenges such as illegal logging, poaching, and the pressures of tourism. Addressing these challenges requires continuous efforts in law enforcement, habitat restoration, and the promotion of eco-friendly tourism. Future conservation efforts will focus on enhancing the resilience of the park's ecosystems in the face of climate change and human impact. Khao Sok National Park remains a critical area for conservation in Thailand, with its rich biodiversity and crucial ecological functions. Protecting this natural treasure ensures the survival of countless species and the continued provision of essential ecosystem services for future generations. Previous Next

  • Bang Hua Rat Waterfall

WATERFALL Bang Hua Rat Waterfall Escape to Bang Hua Rat Waterfall, a serene retreat in Khao Sok. This wide, curtain-like cascade spills into a clear pool, offering a peaceful spot for wading, relaxation, and enjoying the tranquility of nature. Description: ang Hua Rat Waterfall is a serene and picturesque waterfall located deep within Khao Sok National Park. The waterfall is known for its broad, curtain-like cascade that spills gently over a rocky ledge, creating a beautiful, wide stream of water that fans out across a rock face. At the base of the waterfall lies a clear, shallow pool that reflects the surrounding greenery, offering an idyllic spot for visitors to wade, relax, and take in the natural beauty. Due to its location, Bang Hua Rat is less frequented by large crowds, making it an excellent retreat for those looking to experience nature in peace and quiet. The area around the waterfall is shaded by towering trees, and the sound of the cascading water provides a soothing backdrop, perfect for meditation, photography, or simply unwinding. Location: GPS Coordinates: 8.9189, 98.5287. Bang Hua Rat Waterfall is located about 6 kilometers from the Khao Sok National Park headquarters. The waterfall is nestled within the dense rainforest of the park, accessible only by foot through a well-trodden but secluded trail. Size and Flow: The waterfall stands approximately 10 meters high and spans across a broad rock face, giving it the appearance of a water curtain. The flow of the waterfall is moderate, with its intensity peaking during the rainy season (May to November). During this time, the water flow is more robust, enhancing the visual and auditory experience. However, even in the dry season, the waterfall maintains a steady stream, making it a pleasant sight year-round. The pool at the base of the waterfall is shallow, making it safe for families with children to enjoy wading in the cool, refreshing water. Surrounding Flora and Fauna: The journey to Bang Hua Rat Waterfall takes you through a lush tropical rainforest, rich in biodiversity. The trail is lined with a variety of tropical plants, including giant ferns, orchids, and bamboo groves. The dense canopy overhead provides ample shade, making the hike pleasant even on warmer days. The area around the waterfall is a haven for various species of birds, butterflies, and small mammals. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the sight of colorful species such as hornbills, kingfishers, and drongos. The surrounding forest is also home to numerous amphibians and reptiles, adding to the sense of exploring a vibrant ecosystem. Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Bang Hua Rat Waterfall is during the rainy season, from May to November, when the waterfall is at its most impressive. During this time, the forest is lush and green, and the increased water flow creates a more dramatic cascade. However, the waterfall remains a tranquil and beautiful destination throughout the year. If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer visitors, the dry season offers easier access with a more subdued, but still picturesque, waterfall. Things to Bring: For those planning to visit Bang Hua Rat Waterfall, it's essential to come prepared. Wear sturdy hiking shoes with good grip, as the trail can be uneven and slippery, especially after rain. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and insect repellent to ensure a comfortable journey. A camera is recommended to capture the stunning scenery, and a swimsuit and towel are useful if you plan to wade in the pool at the base of the waterfall. A hat and sunscreen are also advisable, even though the trail is mostly shaded. How to Get There: The hike to Bang Hua Rat Waterfall begins at the Khao Sok National Park headquarters. The trail is approximately 6 kilometers long and winds through the dense forest, taking about 2-3 hours to complete, depending on your pace. The trail is moderately challenging, with some sections requiring careful navigation over rocks and through small streams. However, the path is well-marked and suitable for hikers of average fitness. It’s recommended to start the hike early in the day to avoid the afternoon heat and to allow plenty of time to enjoy the waterfall and its surroundings before heading back. Bang Hua Rat Waterfall is a hidden gem within Khao Sok National Park, offering a tranquil escape into nature. Whether you're looking for a peaceful spot to relax or an opportunity to explore the park's rich biodiversity, this waterfall provides a rewarding experience for all visitors. Previous Next
